Summer Survival

I had never been to a Sonic until a few months ago. Even though there is one literally 3 minutes from my house. It's been so hot lately and I have been CRAVING slushy fruity cold drinks. We were driving past the Sonic one day and I decided to pull in and give it a try. OH YES! They have such a great menu filled with ice cream, slushy drinks, and a vanilla diet coke that is so yummy! I think their hamburgers and fries are just ok, but now we just go for the drinks. My son is also fascinated by the fact that we actually get to eat IN THE CAR! I knew this place was suppose to be a Southern Staple, and now I know why. Does anyone else have this love affair with Sonic??

Better Late Than Never

I FINALLY got to watch the reunion show last night of The Real Housewives of NJ, both of them! I just can't believe how the much drama was in this series. I LOVED it! I really felt they left us hanging at the end of the second show and I hope they do another season. It just makes me want to ask, is this for real?? Do some people really live like this??
I watched with a neighbor of mine and we spent a lot of time discussing weather or not we would be able to do our hair and makeup everyday like these women do. And dress in the cute dresses with accessories everyday. I really do wish it was something I could do, and envy the people who have time to do it. However our big outings of the day usually consist of a trip to the grocery store or Chick-Fil-A, and I would probably get some funny looks if I dressed like that at those places!

It's Official!

My Doctors office called me today to officially schedule my c-section date! We had been going on a date that "was likely" and that was July 15th. But now I can say that Miss P will be born via c-section on July 14th at 12:30! I am very excited! Two weeks from this Tuesday.
I have to have a c-section because of the extremely difficult and traumatic delivery I had with Little Man. I won't go into details but I was put to sleep and they did the surgery. I am getting nervous this time around because even though I have had a c-section before I wasn't awake for it. So I don't even know what to expect. It's a very strange position to be in.
At least the excitement of the baby coming overrides the fears I have about the delivery. I am more than ready to bring this girl into the world!

Summer Cocktails

Not only am I counting down the days until I can deliver this baby, I am also counting down the days til I can have my first Margarita of the Summer! I figure in about 4 weeks. So until that time I have to indulge myself in these fun products.

OPI Strawberry Margarita nail polish. I discovered this color two Summers ago, I think. Its been my signature shade ever since. I just love it on my toes. The name itself just makes me feel festive when I wear it.
Senorita Margarita Hot Salt Scrub by Philosophy. I got this a few Summers ago at Sephora and have been using it ever since. The smell is so authentic and it also keeps my skin super soft.

And for the ultimate Summer cocktail party is this gift set from Philosophy. It includes a trio of cocktail scented items. Shampoo and body washes. I have not tried the Mimosa or Melon Daiquiri, but I am sure they are as good as the Margarita.
Happy Summer Everyone!

I Am Getting Nervous!

I went to the Doctor yesterday. I have about 3 and a half weeks left until my scheduled C-Section. I am having what they call "practice contractions" and they told me to stay off my feet and rest as much as possible. Yeah Right! Pretty impossible with my 4 year old running circles around me.

But I am starting to get nervous. Not about the delivery itself or anything, but about how my life is going to change. I am finally used to having one little guy running around here, I am nervous about how I am going to handle two! Will I be able to give them both what they need? Will I be able to split my time? Will I find myself losing it and taking it out on my son (which I hear is pretty normal)?

I am sure I will be fine, but these are the thoughts and fears running through my head right now. I would like to hear from you Mommies about what it was like for you to bring home that second child, what advice do you have for me?

Miss P's Baby Room is Finished!

We finally put the finishing touches on the baby room this weekend! What do you think?

The pink ribbons we painted on the wall match the embroidery in her baby bedding.

The color in this picture is a little off. I still need to steam these curtains and install the holdbacks, but I was anxious to get them up. They are super heavy, I made them with the blackest blackout liner I could find.

We are using the blue rocker from when the room used to be blue, I don't have the energy to make a cover right now! I painted the mats on the picture frames. They are hung and ready for her newborn pictures!

Hubby refinished and painted the crib and changing table (it used to be a light maple color) and we added pink glass drawer pulls.

That's it, we are ready! 4 weeks to go!

Little Man's Room

With the impending arrival of our newest family member we had to do some switching around of rooms in our house. The new baby will go in what used to be Little Man's nursery, and in turn Little Man got moved to his own "big boy" room. We just completed his room a few weeks ago. Here are some pictures.

My hubby is a genius and an excellent designer. He built this bed, I kid you not. I tried to find the pictures of the unfinished bed but couldn't' find them, hopefully I will soon. We both painted it navy blue. We also hung the white trim (you can't tell from the picture but the top trim line is a little shelf). We were going for that craftsman style look.

Little Man is a big Jimmie Johnson Nascar fan, so we hung this banner. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the first picture has his pillow which is monogramed with his name in red and a racecar on it.

Can you tell I like to put the kids names on EVERYTHING!

A Great Resource for the Preppy Lifestyle

One of the reasons I read so many of your blogs is to get great preppy tips, inspiration, advice and product ideas. I came across a website that is full of all of these things. It's a web magazine called Plaid + Hound (don't you just love that name!). It's full of everything for your home, your pets, fashion, and kids. Whatever your into I think they've got it covered. Check it out!!

Baby Shower Weekend

My weekend was really fabulous. I got to spend a lot of quality time with my boys. We got a lot more work done to the baby nursery, and I had my baby shower! I did end up wearing my turtle shoes, and they were a big hit. The highlight of the shower (at least for me) was the cake my friend made! It was too cute to eat!

Need Shoe Help!!

My baby shower is this weekend and I really wanted to get some pink shoes for the occasion. I plan on wearing a green dress (well more like a green tent with a tie in the back!) and accessorize with pink. I usually go the simple classic route, but I found these shoes at Target and loved them. I thought the rhinestone turtles were really cute.

Do you think these shoes are a little over the top for a big, huge pregnant lady to wear to a classic Sunday Brunch baby shower?? Please be honest and tell me what you think. My other shoes are flat pink sandals (and probably a little more sensible).
